A Visit From 'W'
Last weekend Grandma W came to visit me!
(Well, I guess she came to see Kai, Mom and Dad, too.)
She helped us to celebrate Kai's first birthday.
I took her on a skipjack ride for a special 'treat'.
We all rode on the Rebecca Ruark, an 1890's skipjack which is a National Historic Landmark.
This is Captain Wade.
He taught us a little about crabs, the Chesapeake Bay, and politics of being a waterman.
Honestly, Grandma and I were only pretending to listen.
I think that we enjoyed our time laughing, eating fruit and just hanging out the most.

My Last Lesson
I had my last swimming lesson this week.
We had a lot of fun learning water safety.
This is me 'rescuing' my teacher, Miss Barbara.
It is important to lie flat when you are rescueing someone so that you don't fall in!
We also practiced jumping into the water wearing life preservers.
(I needed some help and was lowered in.)
My life jacket was a little big, but it kept me afloat!
I sure am getting comfortable being in and around the water!
I can't wait for lessons to start up again in the fall!

We Wish We Were There!
We wish we were there to give you hugs and kisses for your special day.
(Well, we wouldn't mind eating cake too!)
We love you!
Have a great day!

Playdate in the District
I played dress-up at my friend Ada's house yesterday.
I thought purple was better, but Ada was already wearing it.
We took a break from that and went to the park. I met another boy named Max and his brother Marshal (that's Max in the striped shirt). We played for a bit and had fun! Chalk up another great trip to D.C.!

Cambridge is Yummy!
Yesterday we went to The Taste of Cambridge.
(That means crabs. Lots and lots of crabs.)
Crab Soup!
This is me with the Maryland Crab Queens.
There was also a crab picking contest.
(These ladies de-meat the crab really fast!
The winner picked ten crabs in just over four minutes!)

My favorite activity was working on the public art project.
My favorite activity was working on the public art project.
It is a mosiac mural on the walls in front of the two antique stores which burned earlier this year.

I worked on a black lab puppy.
Although I was coated in adhesive, I had a great time!

Celebration!
I also rode on the Dinosaur ride.
I had a lot of fun and even played a carnival game.

I picked a duck and won some pom pons.
I can really shake 'em!
Happy Independence Day!

Tipsy!
I did a special dance for some of our guests here at Lodgecliffe.
(It was a contemporary, interpretive dance.)
I also showed them how to use the binoculars (backwards) to inspect plants.
They were very appreciative, and I got my first tip!
Mom and Dad took me, and my five dollars, to a consignment shop to see if I could find something fun.
And I did!
I picked out a Doctor set.
It has a stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, thermometer, tweezer, syringe, otoscope and hat.
Kai has been a very good patient!
